With the camcorder and VHS tapes being highlighted a lot in the marketing it has to be important to the plot, right?
So what if this thing that happened 27 years ago, the girls caught it on film and then hid the tape or something and 27 years later, someone finds it and so the framing of the story is a found footage type story? Maybe the game even begins in the 27 years later part and then we go back, just like Stephen King's IT (which the 27 year time gap is also presumably a reference to). Ha
